Five ways we make sync simple

 In Product News

Timecode and metadata are complex subjects, especially when it comes to the technical challenges of synchronising them across multiple video and audio sources. It’s always been our aim at Timecode Systems to embrace and pursue the new possibilities of wireless technology and use these advancements to uncomplicate the practical process of generating and sharing information at the point of shooting and in post-production.

Here’s how we make sync simple…

  1. Fast and simple set up. If a camera arrives on location mid-way through the recording day, our users have the capability to simply attach one of our :mini trx+ units, select the right RF channel and get going knowing the content recorded will be instantly synced against an incredibly accurate master clock. And then when they arrive back on set the next day, they reset the master clock and everything is swiftly synced up again.
  2. Sync while you shoot. Can’t reach a camera rigged up high on a jib? On a shoot involving multiple video and sound sources and a tight schedule? Manually checking and re-jamming every individual timecode unit at regular intervals throughout a shoot is not always an option. Our BLINK Hub app (coming soon) will enable crews to monitor and synchronise the timecode from multiple video and sound sources remotely and centrally, at the point of shooting. This avoids the additional time, hassle and cost of having to manually fix any synchronisation issues during postproduction.Screenshot_2016-07-07-17-17-03
  3. The complete reliability of BLINK RF. Synchronisation between units is via BLINK RF (our own wireless long-range sync, control and metadata exchange protocol). By using the uncongested long range RF frequencies 865 MHz to 923 MHz, we’re not only able to avoid the overcrowding and unpredictability of Wi-Fi but also the less reliable 2.4-5 GHz range to create a rock solid sync between units, wherever you are.
  4. Simple operation. Although our products each come with the most advanced features on the market, we’ve worked hard to ensure they operate and combine together into a workflow system that is surprisingly straightforward. Ease of use is one of the things that make our solutions so popular. With clear displays and control interfaces designed to allow one-finger navigation, our products are designed to be intuitive and uncomplicated.

  1. Four core multifunctional products. We’ve streamlined our product range to focus on four core multifunctional hardware products (the :pulse, SyncBac PRO, :wave and :minitrx+). Whether a production includes one camera in a studio, multiple cameras, or a whole army of GoPros on location, these core solutions can be configured and combined to fit the unique requirements of any shoot.
