SyncBac PRO for GoPro HERO6: Shipping update

There is a temporary hold on shipping of our new SyncBac PRO for GoPro HERO6 while we await a camera firmware update from GoPro that will resolve some performance issues. As soon as this update is available, we will resume taking orders.

SyncBac PRO and GoPro HERO6 camera

The problems identified are:

  • Inaccuracies in how the GoPro HERO6 camera timestamps its MP4 file in subsequent chapters generated after chapter 1.
  • The camera doesn’t currently support the remote power on/off function on BLINK Hub.
  • Critical camera performance issues are experienced when the camera is powered externally when a SyncBac PRO is connected to the GoPro HERO6.

All of the above will be resolved through an update to the GoPro HERO6 camera firmware that will enable it to fully support timecode synchronisation. Existing users do not need to return SyncBac PRO units (no action is required to repair the SyncBac PRO).

Note: These issues are specific to the GoPro HERO6 solution. The SyncBac PRO for GoPro HERO4 does not experience these performance issues and continues to ship.

When the update is available from GoPro, we will announce what action is required on Facebook, Twitter and an email update.
