Presented by TVBEurope magazine, the Best of Show Award is a prestigious honour. Award entries are evaluated by a panel of engineers and industry experts based on innovation, feature set, cost efficiency, and performance in serving the broadcast industry.

“Recognition with a Best of Show Award from TVBEurope is a strong vote of confidence from a leading industry publication,” said Paul Scurrell, CEO of Timecode Systems Limited. “At shows like IBC, the pressure is definitely on to be ground-breaking, so we’re thrilled that SyncBac PRO stood out from the crowd amongst so much innovation.”

In the past, film and broadcast production teams might not have selected a GoPro camera for a certain shot or angle because of the inability to easily move the media into the postproduction workspace. Because GoPro cameras are not timecoded, GoPro footage would have to be manually synchronised, significantly adding to the edit time. Attaching a SyncBac PRO enables the HERO4 camera to generate its own timecoded MP4 file at source. This capability allows the creation of a wireless timecode sync over long-range RF, both between multiple GoPros and between GoPros and any more traditional broadcast cameras and professional audio devices on set. As a result, GoPro footage can be drawn into an edit workflow in the same way as footage from any other professional camera.

“The message we heard at IBC2016 was that technology is not just about achieving amazing special effects and transforming the viewer experience; it’s also about the more practical business of enabling production teams to save time, reduce costs, and streamline processes,” said Scurrell. “And this is exactly why our products got noticed they are designed to make workflows simpler, more reliable, and more efficient, both at the point of shooting and in postproduction.”
